This one time I was asked to judge a battle of the bands. However, due to politics and interpersonal issues, I was eventually kicked off the panel. In fact they told me that they'd prefer I don't even show up at all.
But it was supposed to be a really heavy show with some great bands, so there was no way I was just going to stay home that night. Fortunately for me, not everyone was informed of what had happened. I was able to just walk backstage and mingle with the band. Since it was no longer a conflict of interest, I brought along my buddy Snoopy to sell some insurance to the bands. I made sure to go through and talk to them all.
I eventually made my way over to the prizes table, where I was surprised to discover that the medallions were solid gold, silver, and bronze for first, second, and third prize respectively. It also turned out that only 3 bands were playing. They were all getting one!
One thing lead to another, and I ended up "borrowing" the prizes and leaving in their stead a really unimpressive doll. I figured that if the bands could impress the judges AND track me down to claim their true prize (and insurance benefits), it would be a true test of their mettle!
In more ways than 7!
