The feature I'm talking about today has actually been in the system for quite some time, but we don't link to it in the UI anywhere yet (except, of course on the manage page.) Let me tell you a story...
So you've just played a show in a city you've never been to before, and it went pretty well. When you get home, you find three or four scraps of paper with names and phone numbers on them. Sweet! You've got some lead on venues and places to crash next time you're in town. Now you just need to refrain from losing those scraps of paper for the next two months or so until you play there again.
Or do you? Maybe there's a better system!
You log into your bombplates site and go to YOURSITE/node/add/tour-contact (i.e. in my case regdarandthefighters.com/node/add/tour-contact). What's this? A contact form with details of those cool people you met yesterday? You type in the person's name. Next you see a drop-down menu with your recent shows (you did remember to add the tour when you booked it, right?). You select yesterday's show, and suddenly half of the person's other fields are filled in!
You finish filling out the person's details as much as you know and hit save. Well that was pretty cool. Now what?
A month later, you're planning to do a show in that same city. You think to yourself, "Now where did I put that guy's phone number? What was his name? What bar did he say he worked at? Shoot!"
You log in to your site and go to YOURSITE/manage/tour/contacts (i.e. regdarandthefighters.com/manage/tour/contacts). Simply type in the name of the city (or its zip code, or nothing at all, whatever) and hit search. That guy's name comes up along with those other folks you entered in after that fateful show! Click his name, and a pop-up box with all his info comes up too. You call him up and book another awesome show!
