Noa Noa Show Recap

Last weekend we played the grand closing of Noa Noa, a great Nashville venue that supported a wide variety of avant garde and experimental music. I regretfully attended fewer events there than I really should have. One that sticks out in my mind is the "No Media" event they did, which felt like one of the best open mics I've been to in years. Performers were randomly grouped into threes and then got on stage and improvised with each other for 10 minutes. It was a great example of the sort of semi-guided chaos that Regdar thrives on.

That night, we split a set with our good friends AllOne and Mr. Collin's Bollocks and our new friend Chervon. It was a small, but entertaining night of experimental and conventional music ranging from prog to rock to rap.

We'd invited AllOne to join us from New York, and he didn't know it was a closing show until shortly before the show. To celebrate, he did a poem he'd written about the coffee shop where he'd honed his lyrical chops before it too closed. It was a moving and poignant performance.

This coming weekend, we're playing our next show at Cafe Coco. It will be an early birthday party for me, and we'll be celebrating by having a bunch of my bands play at once! Should be a somewhat less solemn afair, but it will be a lot of fun!

It's a free, all-ages show, so there's no excuse not to come out and party! I hope to see you all there!
